For many years, Egypt has been one of the places where the need for rescuing animals never stops.
When we first arrived, we started with single stories. One animal that needed treatment right then and there. One shelter running out of food, medicine, and money for a vet. People trying to save dozens, sometimes hundreds of animals every day, with almost nothing to work with.
Behind every one of those rescues stood our coordinators. The people who answered the calls, checked each report, chose which case could not wait, and made sure help actually reached the animal and did not get lost along the way. They spent hours on the phone with clinics, arranged transport, followed each recovery, and stayed with the hardest cases until the end. This is quiet, exhausting, day after day work, and it is the reason hundreds of animals in Egypt got a second chance.
Because in Egypt, help has never meant just one rescued dog or one horse taken off the street. It has meant hundreds of kilograms of food. Support for shelters and private carers looking after huge numbers of animals. Treatment, tests, surgeries, and vet visits. Animals lifted off the streets and driven to clinics. And adoptions, thanks to which dogs and cats left Egypt and began completely new lives in Europe, in Spain, Germany, and Poland.
And you can see the change in the animals themselves.
A dog that arrived shaking, ribs showing, terrified of every hand, and weeks later walks calmly on a lead, tail moving again. A cat that would not have survived another night, now curled up asleep in a safe home. This is what our work looks like when it works. Not numbers on a page, but a living animal that feels safe for the first time.
But in case of Egypt it is also about the horses.
The horses from the pyramids, whose stories we have shown to the world for years. Animals worked far beyond their strength, often injured, exhausted, and left without proper care. Some of them our team managed to take. They reached clinics, began treatment, and for the first time felt something they had barely known before: life without constant work and pain. A horse that once collapsed under its load now stands in the shade, healing, eating, resting. That moment is everything.
That is exactly why we are there.
But over time we understood that saving one animal after another would never be enough. So we started to speak louder. We showed what happens behind the postcard image of Egypt. We filmed it. We published it. We ran campaigns and petitions. Our stories reached millions of people, and more and more of them began to ask hard questions about the animals used in tourism and the thousands of homeless dogs and cats.
And change began to happen.
For us this is a huge moment, but it is not the end of our mission. Just the opposite. Because behind every change in the law there has to be real action. And behind the big numbers there are still single animals. One horse that needs to reach a clinic. One dog found on the street. One cat that needs surgery. One shelter about to run out of food.
That is why we are still in Egypt.
Our coordinators still support the people working on the ground. We still fund treatment. We still help rescue animals and find them new homes. We still show the world what should no longer be accepted.
We have seen animals at the moment their lives seemed to have no future. And later we have seen them again: safe, healed, cared for. Sometimes thousands of kilometres from where their story began.
That is what this mission is about. Not only to rescue, but to give a chance at a completely new life.
None of this would be possible without you. Every kilo of food, every operation, every rescued horse carries your name too, right beside the people who made it happen on the ground.
We know how much still needs to change. But we have also seen, with our own eyes, how much is possible when good people refuse to look away. Egypt has taught us that nothing is ever hopeless. So we are not stopping. Not now, not ever. As long as there is one more animal to reach, we will be there, and so will you.
